Walking is a Good Start for Fitness and Weight Loss.

Walking is a good start for fitness whatever your age. You may be lacking in motivation or self esteem but just need that little something that will get you moving to raise the heart rate for fat loss and fitness increase.
As long as your legs are in reasonable order, you can walk. If your days are predominantly spent sitting down then walking is a great way to get started with your fitness and fat loss desires.
Walking for at least 40 minutes several times per week at an average to fast pace is associated with a near 25 percent drop in the risk of heart failure among post-menopausal women, according to new research. Obviously the benefits of walking are great for men too but research does show that getting out there and walking is great.
I remember when my wife, Jennie, was wanting to start running more before she was a Personal Trainer, she had low confidence. I said to her “just go for a walk” “get your running shoes on but just walk”. The idea of this was that walking is a lot easier in terms of self confidence and exertion. If you are out walking you are doing better than just sat at home thinking about going out.
I said to her “walk and when confidence and fitness levels increase, jog.” Before you know it you will be running. It just takes them small few steps to gain confidence.
I love to walk. I walk for at least 1 hour at a time. The best thing is, if you walk somewhere nice, you barely notice that you have done any exercise.
Walking with friends can be another great way to distract from any thoughts that it is hard exercise. Having a chat while walking can be very therapeutic. My wife and I come up with most of our life and business decisions while out for a walk.
Joining a rambling club could be the thing you need to walk and meet new friends.

Remember to Start
This is just a start. Whatever your abilities, start doing the thing that most people can do, walk. It is a great place to start getting fit and healthy. You never know, you might start running!
