What is the Purpose of Fit For Purpose?

Run by Jennie-Marie Glover, Fit For Purpose are Group Fitness Classes that aim to get groups fit to compete in Charity Events to raise money and awareness. 

This is a great way to get motivated to be fit for the purpose of helping others as well as yourself.

Increase fitness, lose weight and gain a whole lot of confidence working out with like minded people of all abilities with qualified Personal Trainer, Jen in Whitby, North Yorkshire.

What Type of Exercises Will I Do?

We will aim to get fit and strong with mainly bodyweight movements. The classes will be a circuit style where I will set out various exercises. We will all exercise together but we will all be performing different exercises.

When there is an event that we are competing in, we will focus our exercise around that event. So, if it is a running event, we will run in our training times.

27/02/17 update after 6.5 weeks of training with Jennie:

So, an update for those who have noticed a difference since I started to train… in 6.5 weeks: 1.5 stone lighter, chest 2″ less, hips 1″ less, waist… 4.5″ less (that’s over 11cms in new money!). But, my goals are and were to get fitter and more healthy, so am I? Oh yes! I am most definitely more healthy, fitter, sleeping better and with higher energy levels. I’ve just done a fitness test with Jennie again to compare with the one I did when we started on 13/01/17 and the differences are amazing. Also, my wife has started to pick up some of the fitness equipment I’ve now got and started to exercise on her own – she’s encouraged and motivated and is to start with Jennie in the not too distant future. So, for anyone in the Scarborough vicinity who would similarly benefit, please contact Jennie…

Late 50s, pretty unfit, overweight, diagnoses of mild osteoarthritis in both knees, tennis elbow in my left arm (I don’t play any sport now for years & I’m right handed), back pain, occasional low bp, a fair diet but improvement needed and overdue – for 10 years I’ve said ‘this is the year I’ll do something about it’ but never have!

So Nov 2016, my wife – supported by Jennie’s mum – both said I should sign up. After a couple of weeks with ‘I’ll think about it’ ringing initially on my lips and in my head, I decided in early Dec to start in January to have 2 sessions each week – thinking ‘I’ve made the decision and that’s it for now, I can forget about it’… but no! Jennie said ‘send me photos of everything (yes, everything!) that you eat and drink.’ Sure, I could have cheated, but there’s no point in that. After all, I signed up with goals to get fit and healthy and of course I told my GP I was going to start exercising/working out – he was happy and encouraging as well.

During December, Jennie also sent me encouragement and gave feedback – suggested gradual changes to my food and drinks intake, asked me how I was feeling – any change in energy levels etc?. She then suggested I use ‘my fitness pal’ app and to send her the results – again entering every food and drink consumed. Quickly she responded to say that although I was following what the app suggested my calorie intake should be, she raised it!!! I was able to eat more than the app suggested!! Yay  … tbecause it was too big a change, and with what she knew, I didn’t at the time, was to come! Has the app helped in the meantime and since – oh yes – realising that a favourite meal had over 1300 calories made me choose something that had 670 instead! I make sure that it’s filled in every day.

Jennie even gave me Christmas off – even so, I had told her ‘my goal is to get more healthy and improve my fitness – weight loss would be a great side effect’ – so I didn’t go overboard, but I did enjoy myself!

Between Christmas and New Year I had my left hip x-ray’d as my GP said it was my hip giving me pain, not my back.

So January came and workouts started.

Jennie made sure that my appraisal was given time and consideration – asking all the right questions including medical history questions, and an initial appraisal workout showed how much I could do without pain in my joints, but just how important it is to exercise – even if it aches (not pain).

So after that initial appraisal I’ve now had 4 further sessions so far, received a diagnosis of osteoarthritis in my hip as well – and that had started intermittently to be painful, far more than my knees – sometimes quite a lot, not just ache.

So… How’s it going? Did I sign up too late? Am I persevering? Is Jennie a Sergeant Major?…

I’m discovering muscles I didn’t know I had, let alone not used for years! Do I ache afterwards? – sometimes for a day or so! BUT every time Jennie makes sure during each workout (which has been different each time so far) that any ache I have is NOT painful – if it’s getting to that threshold, Jennie changes and adapts my workout routine. She is mindful of the importance of exercising safely and also that by exercising – sometimes through mildly aching knees, elbow, hip – that the joint will improve. That’s the benefit and necessity to have a good personal trainer – if I’d enrolled at a gym, on days I might wake up, thinking I won’t go to the gym today – but I’ve gone, made sure on every occasion Jennie asks ‘how are you/how’s the hip etc’ that I tell her – and she always asks. Jennie is an encourager and enabler – as well as an excellent personal trainer.

So, after 2 weeks/4 complete sessions:

– for the last 2 days – NO hip ache. Although it was painful before I turned up and during the 3rd session earlier this week as a result of something I’d done hurriedly the day before (de-icing the car!!) – SO Jennie modified the workout again – to limit/nullify any impact on the hip joint. The pain was gone by the following day and no after effects today either after my 4th session – NO HIP ACHE – each day without pain is astonishing.
– my knees haven’t been this good in well over a year – I walked briskly 2 steps at a time up about 60-70 steps today (the first session, 14 days ago I paused even when only going up one at a time!)
– I can get into and out if my car without any discomfort
– my tennis elbow has gone – I’ve a pain free elbow joint again
– all the time being careful with what I do, and resting if and when needed
– my diet intake is regular, really enjoying what I eat

… and I’m feeling GREAT.

I know I’m fitter, feeling much more healthy, sleeping better and waking refreshed. Oh, I’m also losing weight 

So, is it worth signing up with Jennie? What do you think? I say, ‘ YES’

I had never considered personal training until Jennie was recommended to me. I have struggled for a long time with weight and since starting with Jennie, I am beginning to reign in my bad habits and replace them with better choices. Despite ups, downs, weak moments and wins; Jennie is there to work through thought processes. Plus, there is no gym – Just a private studio!

she has completely changed me

I have been with Jennie for 4 weeks now and she has completely changed me not only is my body taking on a completely different shape but I am a different person.
I train with Jennie twice a week and also now confidently train independently three times a week, which is something I would never of done four weeks ago.
I went to Jennie beacuse I wanted to get fit but I have got so much more then that, peace of mind, food knowledge, fitness, confidence and a different attitude towards life.
I have got a long way to go before I have the body I want to have but I know I will achieve it with Jennie Jennie really is amazing and I feel so lucky and proud that she is my personal trainer.

temple spa products are by far the best

Just a little shout out to Jennie-Marie Glover and the amazing products she supply temple spa products are by far the best I’ve come across (with my face and skin) ive tried many ranges over the years but nothing even scratches the side of these not only do they rejuvenate your skin they make you feel better with there relaxing scents candles and oils, yes these products are on the higher end of the affordability scale but I believe your skin is an investment after all were going to be looking at it till we meet our maker,
Jenny also let’s you set up plans when you want to pay for products for example there’s a few things I’ve ordered for Christmas but not been able to afford these all at once Jenny kindly wrote everything down and dates when each product could be paid for and dispatched. There’s so many ideas for gifts too buying the gift sets can be a great money saving idea, by simply splitting these up buying your own glasses cups ect and putting together your own personal little treat presents with one or 2 products in them followed by wine, socks, or even chocolates . Making your own high end gifts, I cannot recommend these products enough, also Jenny is a absolute pleasure helping to relaxing and treat you on Spa classes �

Absolutely loved my temple spa party

Absolutely loved my temple spa party. Jennie came and pampered us all (5 ladies ) we all felt so relaxed and had amazing skin once Jennie had worked her magic . Jennie tailored to each of our skin needs , there was no pressure to buy at all and her priority was just to make sure we all had a great time. Jennie is very knowledgeable and knows each product inside out, she even took the time out to txt to make sure our packages had arrived which was a speedy 4 days after the party. Such a lovely friendly person, can’t wait for our next get together xx would defiantly recommend x

Jennie is a fantastic Temple Spa consultant

Jennie is a fantastic Temple Spa consultant, very attentive and knows the products inside out! She looks after each of us on a one to one basis and has helped choose the right products for me and my friends! There is absolutely no pressure to buy anything, Jennie just puts all her efforts into everyone having a great, relaxing night. Would recommend her to anyone, looking forward to future parties!

What more can a lady need 

Jen is an absolute goddess!! She knows the products well and recommends on needs not cost! I have attended around 4 parties and class Jen as 1 of the girls very efficient and always a pleasure and we get amazing products! David’s Increased Confidence

Before my first session with Jennie-Marie, I lacked confidence and was extremely nervous. Jennie has helped me celebrate the progress I have made and continue to drive me forward; she is highly motivating and yet extremely caring. By spending time working out my pitfalls and unpicking my internal monologue, she’s is helping to change my attitude towards food, exercise and self-image. Her sessions are always varied, tailored to my needs and most of all, fun. As a teacher, her flexibility has allowed me to squeeze in workouts before school, during lunch breaks and in the evenings, which has made it so much easier to establish a life-changing routine. If anyone is nervous about working with a personal trainer, then try a session with Jennie; all my fears were allayed and I now look forward to working out.

I simply love her. She’s so good. She totally understands and empathises and provides so much motivation.

She will never judge you. It’s not just about the exercise and training. She provides an holistic approach and covers your whole lifestyle and also gives you a diet plan.

She is so understanding, caring and lovely. She carries one through a step wise approach. And she makes a custom-designed plan for every individual client.

I lost so many inches from my whole body in only less than a month and I could visibly see so many changes. I simply love her. She is a woman of faith too and I love that about her and she always tries to find a ground of similarity with her clients. She is so easy going and friendly. When I first came to her I was afraid of being judged but she would never judge anyone. Simply love her.
